USTR Ambassador Tai meets with farmers

  • 2 votes

The Biden administration has not named a Chief Ag Negotiator yet, nor has it given insight into the U.S.'s trade policy position and where the U.S. stands with pending agreements and future agreements. In addition, the Trade Promotion Authority has expired. However, that hasn't stopped the administration from sending USTR Katherine Tai around the country to meet with lawmakers and workers, including local farmers and business owners, about the Biden administration's vision for a "worker-centered" trade policy.

This is very unique. I have no recollection of any previous U.S. Trade Representative traveling around the states to talk trade policy. I find it very interesting. In the meantime, we still don't know what the future holds for U.S. agriculture to maintain its competitiveness globally while our competitors continue to negotiate trade agreements.

What are your thoughts? Where do you stand on "worker-centered trade policy" and negotiating trade agreements?
